But, tryptophan needs to be taken on a empty stomach in order to make you drowsy. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The last time I checked turkey isn't the only thing eaten at Thanksgiving dinner. So why do we feel so tired? &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Well, the carbohydrate load is the culprit.
